Hey everyone! It’s me, Abby. In September of 2019 I packed up and moved to Silk Grass, Belize to work with the amazing Kidz Konnect 4 Jesus team. It’s been a bit over two years since I made that move and it has been quite the adventure. I moved to Belize to work in primary schools, which I did for the first 7 months on the ground. This season was absolutely amazing. I was able to share the gospel weekly with hundreds of kids. These first few months taught me so much about the Belizean culture and lifestyle. I grew so much through this experience of stepping out on my own and fully surrendering my time to serving the Lord.

The first few months I spent on the field confirmed to me that the Lord called me to a life of ministry and specifically to Belize for this season. Then the Covid 19 pandemic struck, and lockdown started. Lockdown required creativity with how and where I was going to work. My role grew and changed many times in 2020-2021. One of the ways it changed was I became a small group leader for high school girls. We started a study of the book John. This study challenged me in so many good ways. Unlike primary students, in this setting, the girls had way more questions for me. Often, they would ask me questions about spiritual things where I had to pause and say, “I don’t know the answer.” These girls pushed me to know what I trust to be true. Teaching has provided me with a new desire to learn and equip myself. These young girls will probably never know that their simple act of asking sent me down the path I’m on today. Through the feelings of not being enough and knowing that only God and His Word are enough, I decided to pray about what the Lord would have me do to equip myself.

After many prayers and with the encouragement of my Kidz Konnect team, I will be attending the foundation’s year at Reformation Bible College in Sanford, Florida. Reformation only accepts 200 students per year to receive classical education in theology and personal discipleship. Their model is built on knowing one another and learning more about Christ through those loving connections. I was accepted in late October and will be starting my program of study in January 2022. With everything being so uncertain in Belize and not knowing if I’ll be back in school or if groups will be allowed to meet, this is the ideal time for me to attend school.

I believe the Lord has called me to ministry, and I am so excited about this next step. I hope that this time away from Belize will equip me to reenter the mission field with new skills. My team is in complete support of this decision, and I’m still a member of the Kidz Konnect Family. The Lord has just called me into a season of being stateside to get ready. I trust this is the Lord’s next steps in my life and in everything I’m trusting Him to provide. I will be completing a one-year program over the fall and spring semesters. Lord willing, I will spend the summer in Belize. Tuition for the spring semester is $4,015. I have received a scholarship to cover some of this, for which I am very grateful. I will have to rent an apartment because the school does not have on-campus housing. This year is going to be a big financial commitment. Over the past two years, the Lord has provided through donations from friends, family, and churches. For all the prayers and support you have provided, I am so incredibly blown away. My time in Belize and even these next steps would not have been possible without your faithful giving. My hope and prayers are that you would prayerfully consider continuing to support me through this season as I equip myself for being on the mission field long term. The Lord has given me a heart for missions. This season is a continuation of my time on the mission field. I know the Lord will use it in my life and others. My estimated monthly expenses will be around $1,000. This amount includes rent, utilities, food, and gas. It does not include the remaining $2,775 I owe to my tuition due the first week of January.

If giving financially is not something you can do at this time, I would very much appreciate your prayers and encouragement. Living life on mission is an incredible blessing but it is not without challenges. Please be in prayer for my new season as well as the ongoing discipleship being done by our amazing ground team.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for your prayers and support.

With love,

Abby Saunders
